I have chosen four of my original compositions for this album:
"MEIR'S MOOD" I wrote this ballad during a period when I was listening to a lot of Monk. "Meir's Mood" was influenced by Monk's "Pannonica".
"RELIEF" When I heard the first phrase of this tune the rest just came out. This tune is a relief from the hard times I experienced while living in New York City
"MIXED UP BLUES" is a combination of a few phrases I had accumulated over the years which finally found themselves within a twelve-bar phrase.
"HAVA" I dedicated to my eldest sister who is loved dearly.
I have also chosen the Bill Evans composition Waltz in B Minor which I have wanted to record for a very long time. This album wouldn't be complete without it.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to make music with these great musicians for this album.
I dedicate this album to my brother Mordechai Bouzaglou who passed away in a tragic car accident at the age of eighteen He left behind this guitar which I have continued to play from his last notes. It has been in my heart to continue where he had left off and hope that I have fulfilled his dream in the making of this album.
I would deeply like to thank my parents Esther and Michael Bouzaglou and my sisters for supporting me unconditionally throughout the years.
A special thanks to my old-time friend, guitarist, Yossi Appelbaum who always had the right thing to say.
Thanks to my friend and teacher Carol Abramovitch who strongly influenced me in my early stages.
A very special thanks to Gil Coggins who inspired me every night in the VILLAGE DOOR and to my dear friend, drummer, Mike Campenni during the long nights in the New York Scene.
And special thanks to my friend Victor Jones who made this project a lot of fun, and to the other musicians for taking part in the making of this album.
